Cornhole Construction

Painting your cornhole set can be the most rewarding part of building your own set. Even if you do not think you can construct a set on your own at least buy the set unpainted. This gives you the oppurtunity to place your personal touch on your boards. In this section we will take you step by step on how we finished our boards. You can also discuss cornhole painting and construction ideas in our forums here: Cornhole Party Forums

Cornhole Finishing Steps
Filling The Holes
The first step you need to do with your unfinished cornhole board is fill all the screw holes and nail holes with putty. The wood putty that I used was a little too grainy, but it still worked. You can click on all the pictures below to see a larger image.

Once you have done this let it all dry. When it is good and dry you can then move on to sanding the board down. Make sure you sand the whole cornhole board and that the putty is sanded down well and no bumps are on the board.

Once the cornhole board is smooth and all holes are filled you can then move onto priming the board. The pictures below show what the board looks like with 1 coat of primer and then 2 coats of primer.

Once the cornhole board has 2 coats of primer on it and it is dry you can move onto painting the board. What we are doing is first painting the board all one color. We are doing this because orange will be the dominate color on the board. The pictures below shows what the board looks like with 1 coat of orange paint on. Coming in the next few days will be the logo and the finishing touches on the board.
